OUR FARM
Rebecca’s Garden has now retired but was a small operation located on half an acre of land in beautiful Saanich, British Columbia. The farm produced certified organic and heritage vegetables, berries, flowers, herbs, seeds, preserves and dried products, including over 30 varieties of unique heritage dry beans.
Rebecca’s Garden had two farming locations. One was nestled in the woods, growing berries, greens, roots, brassicas, garlic, flowers, herbs and other shade loving crops. The other was an open south-facing slope, growing the bean crops and other sun loving vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, melons and squash.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The seed crops were grown at both farms, working with nature. Seed was saved to maintain some of the wonderful older varieties which are disappearing from the commercial market. All varieties of seed were open pollinated and had great taste, well suited for the backyard garden. Locally produced seed is acclimated to the Pacific marine environment and is ideal for coastal areas. Seed saving is an intensive process involving time, patience and a bit of love.
OUR PRODUCTS
Rebecca’s Garden no longer has products for sale, though the legacy of some of these products has been passed on to other farmers in the Greater Victoria area.
