BEET Detroit Dark Red
Beta vulgaris
Introduced in 1892 and the standard for beets. This variety was originally selected from Blood Turnip breed by Mr. Reeves of Port Hope, Ontario. Globe shaped deep red roots 3”-4” in diameter. The solid roots have little zoning and are great for canning and fresh eating. In the Pacific Northwest they are a good over wintered variety.
