
BROCCOLI Raab or Rapini
Brassica rapa
This is not a true broccoli but a member of the turnip family. Very popular in Italy the taste is distinctive, stronger than regular broccoli but very nutritious. Stems, leaves and shoots are harvested young before the flowers open. The young leaves are good in salads and the mature leaves, stems and shoots are good braised, sautéed or used in stir fry.
