An heirloom variety dating back to the 1740’s with excellent flavour, beautiful attractive tongue shaped outer leaves. This smooth Buttercrunch type lettuce is slow to bolt in hot summer weather. The compact upright 7″- 8″ loose heads have thick crunchy ribs slightly savoyed. Was very popular among pioneer families for its ruggedness and productivity.
